Sunshine Development

For over 10 years, Sunshine Development has been one of western Colorado's most active builder/developers, working on projects in Montrose, Delta, Fruita and Grand Junction. John Moir, owner/developer was born in Kauai, Hawaii, to parents who worked in the sugar business.  He attended schools in Hawaii and Puerto Rico.  John left the Islands after high school to pursue an engineering and history degree at Iowa State University.  He worked in many areas of the construction industry throughout the 1980's.  After nearly 10 years of home building, he changed course to pursue a master's degree in land development at Texas A&M.  In 1994 he moved his family to Western Colorado and begain Sunshine Development Company in order to purchase land and begin the planning and construction of communities in the area.  Since its inception, Sunshine has built and is the process of building 10 communities ranging geographically from Ridgway to Fruita.  He lives in Fruita with his wife, Julie, and their three daughters and son.  They enjoy biking, hiking, skiing and gardening.  The Grand Valley is a beautiful place in which to live and work.

John was the 2010 President Elect of the HBA Northwestern Colorado.
